Stargate: Resistance - for stargateland's Stargate: Continued challenge

The Stargate: SG-1 episode "2010" introduces viewers to the Aschen, a race of aliens whose Confederation the Earth has joined. The Aschen have eliminated the Goa'uld, Earth's main threat, and have brought improvements to Earth such as new technology and a longer life span. However, the Aschen are secretly sterilizing the population; when this is discovered, the members of SG-1 use the Stargate to send a message back in time warning against going to the Aschen home planet. With the message heeded, the events of the episode 2010 never happen, and exist only in an alternate timeline. The series "Stargate: Resistance" is an alternate exploration of this alternate timeline. What if there was no message to the past? What if the Earth did join the Aschen confederation after all, and still faces extinction? What if Samantha Carter and others still discovered the Aschen treachery but instead of solving the problem by eliminating their timeline, they must fight a long battle of subterfuge, chipping away at Aschen authority piece by piece? Many former members of the Stargate Program are too well-known to operate covertly, so they will have to recruit new allies in their fight for freedom. "Stargate: Resistance" features the struggles, triumphs, and occasional downfalls of several reconnaissance and misinformation teams operating worldwide as well as a team that travels where needed to perform high-risk operations and eliminate dangerous threats one by one. |
 Jeffery Donovan plays Omar, the leader of the mobile resistance team. This 41-year-old was a protege of O'Neill's - and recruiting him for the cause was O'Neill's only concession to working with the resistance. Omar takes orders from Carter and Jackson, but they've also given him some freedom to make his own calls. He leads his team with a combination of tough love and willing example, and blends focus and dedication to the job with a sharp wit and wry humor. His team may not have very much free time, but Omar makes them forget that they miss the lives they once had.  The 35-year-old Bradlin is played by Piper Perabo. As a former NASA employee, she was responsible for helping integrate Aschen technology into Earth's infrastructure. Now she uses her knowledge of both Earth and Aschen technology for less straightforward purposes. Getting or changing information without leaving a trace and hacking security systems are her specialties, leaving her knowledge of real-world strategic tactics a bit lacking - but she's learning to trust Omar's direction. She struggles sometimes with her emotions, and doubting herself is perhaps her greatest fault. It's something she's working on, as she has been taught that a split-second decision can often mean the difference between life and death.  David Boreanaz's character is named Gerard. Working in the top ranks of Google's security honed his ability to protect people - and to eliminate them as well. His specialty is surveillance/countersurveillance but as the head of his own team at Google he'd mastered many other areas of the job. His natural leadership skills cause him to butt heads with Omar periodically, but in a combat or time-sensitive situation he'll take a back seat every time. At 42 he is the oldest member of the team, but his energy and work ethic take a backseat to none. He probably should allow himself a bit of rest now and then, though, as his desire to hide his sensitive nature means he doesn't deal with personal problems like he should.  After the Aschen, many American governmental agencies such as the CIA, NSA, and FBI came together as one. Colloquially called the 3LA (for "three letter agency"), this organization employed Cote de Pablo's 32-year-old character, Mara. Her studies and work in civil and military engineering allow her to bring a valuable strategic approach to the team, and she is often tasked with designing an approach to their mission. She is the least capable at hand to hand but the most skilled sniper amongst the team, so she often works in the background. Also, she is the team member most fluent in the Aschen language.  Robert is also from the 3LA, and is played by Alex O'Loughlin. Robert is the master of hand to hand combat and the up-close and personal kill. While the entire team is versed in combat, he enjoys teaching them a few new tricks now and then. In addition to multiple styles of Earth martial arts, he has also studied Jaffa fighting techniques. Despite his gruesome talents, this 34-year-old is very personable. Often on the lookout for potential allies, his warm disposition has helped recruit more than a few people to the worldwide teams. Sometimes, however, his mood turns darker due to bad nightmares and lack of sleep. |
OTHER RESISTANCE MEMBERS  Miranda Otto, Dileep Rao, and Navi Rawat portray some of the Australia and Southern Asia team.  Eastern Asia and the Americas are represented by Ken Watanabe, Grace Park, and Michael Weatherly.  Alexander Siddig, LeVar Burton, and Michael Dorn play team members from Africa and Western Asia.  European team members include Tom Hardy, Thandie Newton, and John Barrowman. ASCHEN  Some of the Aschen are played by Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, and Helena Bonham Carter. |

| Notes: *Although I imagine that national borders will have changed due to the influence of the Aschen, I used the current United Nations geoscheme for simplicity. *The image in the promo poster is from the SG-1 episode "2010" and depicts the Earth Stargate, relocated from Stargate Command. *The map projection in the patch is called the "azimuthal-equidistant" projection and can be found here. *If this ever gets turned into a full-fledged fanfic, I'd like to have more characters - including more characters "portrayed" by actors who are native to the country the character comes from. I've done research on this but I am absolutely open to any suggestions! *If you like the style of graphics I've used, please don't take them from this project - I worked very hard on them.
