Stargate: Atlantis fic (poem) + art - John/Teyla, team love, rated PG
Happy Valentine's Day!
I made a wallpaper for a
stargateland challenge with the prompt of steal. I thought of John flying away from Michael, stealing away with his team - with Teyla, who had been stolen from them.... I thought about how John would have done anything to rescue her, which inspired me to write a poem.
It's based on the famous "High Flight" by John Gillespie Magee, Jr. - and there is anything emotional in my poem it is due entirely to him.
preview:

Oh, I will slip the bonds of mortal hurt
And sprint through space on love-determined wings;
I will not now like past mistakes fall short
No one will stop me doing anything
To get you back - I'll fly and fight and run
Straight toward our foe, who hovers there,
A heart of blackness who in wrath has done
The breaking of my heart beyond repair...
Down, down the long, organic, pulsing paths
I run toward you with never-lessening haste,
Then touch you and my heart, repaired! has laughed;
To have you now is worth the path I've trod.
And as I fly you safely now through space,
I hold your child, and breathe a thanks to God.
