Fic Rec: Willemakee by Mary Jane (SG1, Jack/Daniel)
Willemakee by Mary Jane
Area 52 details:
Date Archived: Nov 22, 2004
Pairing: Jack/Daniel
Categories: Angst, Drama, First Time
Season/Episode: Any Size: 79kb
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Character Death
Spoilers: None
Summary: Jack had wanted him to know
I usually stay away from deathfic. I am a very emotional person and I generally don't want the types of emotions that I feel would come knowing one of the characters I love has died. But I'm very glad that I read this. Jack dies at the beginning of the story, and through the rest of the story the reader sees how Daniel deals with his death. I liked having the death at the beginning, because it seemed less jarring to me; I was just easily able to accept it as fact.
The way that Daniel deals with Jack's death is written in a very beautiful fashion. The style of writing is poetic in parts, which helps us see Daniel's emotions. And there are a couple of particular settings that I love, one for reminding me of a particular place in my own life and both for being a good backdrop for Daniel's feelings.
One of my favorite lines: Love could be simple and commonplace and easy and that was not how it been for them and it would not have been enough.
