I wrote my first comment_fic fic!  The prompt was Daniel, in between, and it is here.

I'm all about the idea that Daniel chose to descend.  Discussions on this point would be welcome!

I am actually not sure of my choice whether he chose or was forced to descend. On the one hand, the feelings he had were right on in what you wrote, but on the other i'm not sure the ancients weren't the kind of people who would have even given him a chance to choose. Oma did have something to do with leaving Daniel on Vis Uban and helping Jonas convince the SGC to go.

I totally need to go back and watch some of those episodes 'cause I'm kinda fuzzy on the Oma-Vis Uban thing. Maybe she could have helped daniel with his choice and the mechanics of it. But yeah, I actually lean towards the idea of being forced to descend as something the show wants us to think happened.
