SGA 5x09 Tracker

I just saw Tracker for the first time.

John.  John.

And I know, I know, this is such old news, but I haven't seen all of season 5 yet, and yes obviously I knew about the Rodney/Keller thing, and I know everybody has talked about it to death but.  Just... that one moment at the beginning.  John's face kinda broke my heart a little bit.

Not that I hate Keller or anything. I really enjoyed her in this episode - I think it would take guts to fight a Wraith even with some fighting men around you, but how totally awesome was it that she snuck up on one and stabbed it?  And I'm not anti-McKeller, except for the fact that I don't read het, but it has nothing to do with that pairing specifically.

I dunno... I just... I think a lot of times we read slashy stuff into what we see on shows, but the beginning, it's like Joe Flanigan was like "okay, I'm going to be as pining as possible here" or something because wow.

So now I'm going to go read a bunch of stuff where John is a happy John :-)

I totally agree about that scene with John. :D I remember watching it and thinking something like... "Okay, I'm really not reading anything into this right now--he's PINING! O__O" I'd actually stumbled across that clip on YouTube before I saw the episode, so I knew it was coming, but... Yeah, wow. John~ ;__;

John needs our hugs! Er, except maybe he doesn't... maybe he needs a friendly punch on the shoulder instead? Heh :)

We watched it too yesterday! For about the tenth time though, and yeah, John looks all piney and Rodney looks all guilty! I didn't even need my slash goggles for it!

Yeah. Rodney knows John needs him!

At the beginning I felt a bit upset Keller was replacing a lot of things as Carson (I almost cried when he died), but little by little she gained a place in my heart too.

Besides, John and Rodney can be together and Keller doesn't have to know about it, lol...

I would say John and Rodney should be together and Keller can have Ronon, but Ronon was kinda mean to Rodney in this ep, I thought. Ahhhh the angst!

I'm sort of that way with not having watched a lot of clips from cons or interviews but I've read summaries and comments, and people reported Joe and David joked about putting that stuff in there on purpose. I dunno; sometimes I do wonder.

When that whole thing with the anti-keller sentiments hit I laughed about it because it seemed silly. If people are going to write about a non-canon relationship, it shouldn't really matter what happens on the show anyway, right? I didn't like her kinda wimpy attitude at the beginning and during Missing, but she definitely got better. (And I'm not particularly anti McKeller. I even painted them for SGA secret Santa year before last)

Yeah. I think the actors, I mean even if they never read slash fanfic or anything, they know it's there, and... well, on SG-1's ep "200" in the wedding scene there was apparently a lot of slashy stuff going on that didn't make it on-screen, just cause RDA and Michael Shanks wanted to have some fun with it.

I agree about the freaking out about Keller. The only thing is, it is a little hard if you're writing a McShep during the time Rodney's supposed to be with Keller - do you ignore that, or deal with cheating, or what? But I definitely don't think taking that out on the character is the way to go.

And yeah. I agree about the wimpyish attitude at the beginning. I get it from a character point of view but as far as wanting any real-life doctor of mine to have a certain confidence-inspiring attitude... that sort of carries into how I view Keller. I think there's a difference between having a kind bedside manner and being in over your head, and having most everything you say come out sounding like you're scared of something. So that's why I really liked her in this episode.

Your icon's funny :)

there's a difference between having a kind bedside manner and being in over your head, and having most everything you say come out sounding like you're scared of something That's it exactly. I like how Jewel played Kaylee on Firefly, and there she was also someone who had decided to take on a role a little over her head and depart into the unknown. But as Keller, yeah, I think she often seemed too nervous to be someone who had signed up for the Stargate program. Especially when (ahhh, what ep?) Carson was talking about all the medical candidates they had and one of them did the...cliff jumping for fun, or whatever.

As for McShep stories...hmmmm...I've read stories that have Rodney break up with Keller amicably and not...ones in which Keller is some kind of evil demoness...and ones in which the author pretends they never happened. I think if I really wanted to write McShep during that time I'd not dwell on them much--some of those stories took so much time to deal with the end of the relationship that they were hardly McShep, you know? Unless maybe that was the point, but then a 15,000 word story about them breaking up, ugh, I don't really find that interesting. The ones I thought dealt with it best went about their McSheppy business and spent a short amount of time with "they hadn't been getting along, and Rodney realized it was because he'd been attracted to John this whole time," and that was about it.

Yes, I totally loved her as Kaylee!!!

I love the phrase McSheppy business :D

And that link... sad sad sad, and funny.

I wish I had more intelligent things to say.. heh!

I'm in story writing avoidance mode, so you're getting long comments :) The chibis were after Keller kissed Ronon and then decided she liked Rodney. I know it was the writers, but I thought it was weird.

...Is Daniel licking the Ancient Library downloading thing there?

Haha, yay for story writing avoidance mode! I'm sort of operating in that pretty much all day, and only out of it when I wake up in the middle of my sleep. >.<

YES. YES HE IS.
Gotta love outtakes... :D!
