SGA fic and art recs, various other things

THE ROAD TO BETTER HEALTH BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP: STOP EATING MSG

Recs:
John/Todd ficlet by [livejournal.com profile] chibifukurou

Misc McShep fic by [livejournal.com profile] darkhavens - a lot of really good short stories in there that pack quite a punch.

[livejournal.com profile] nanuk_dain's fantastic Ronon/Lorne manips

[livejournal.com profile] stereowire draws SGA a lot. And I do realize that this art is pre 2008 and I'm sure you've all seen it already. BUT JUST IN CASE.

Graphics:
I did play with Paint.net and realized that if I have a particular type of source image I can get something looking good. I tried to make some icons for a challenge, however, and I have to say that I need some stuff that it seems is only available in Photoshop in order to get anything I'm even mildly happy with.

I can't tell you how happy I was to just be able to try it out though - I missed playing around with graphics! And because one of the Michael Weatherly images I found recently worked nicely with one of the Paint.net filters (i.e. had certain background and contrast characteristics), I have a new journal header that I CANNOT STOP STARING AT. MICHAEL WEATHERLY WHY ARE YOU SO GORGEOUS.

Sexual Frustration:
So speaking of. The NCIS eps I'm watching on TV are reruns of reruns, so I don't have to pay attention as much to the plot. Which means I basically sit there for an hour with my brain saying Michael Weatherly Michael Weatherly Michael Weatherly Mark Harmon! Michael Weatherly Michael Weatherly Oh my goodness Abby's wearing ARMWARMERS that's so hot Michael Weatherly Michael Weatherly Michael Weatherly.

Writing Good Porn:
I have realized the secret to writing good porn. Don't ask - it's a secret.

I have not discovered the secret to applying the secret to writing good porn, however.

SGA Kink Meme Prompts:
I just wrote a bunch about if I should post my SGA kink meme prompts anonymously or not. I think I worked out my answer by "talking it out". So yeah :) I saved the paragraphs if anyone's terribly interested but I think you'd do better to spend some time looking at those links I recced :)

ETA: Sneaky Surprise NCIS rec!
That's Not My Name by faemouse is a hot story that completely satisfies my desire for pre-series Gibbs/DiNozzo non-casefic. As in, these two guys are so attracted to each other that it doesn't take a twenty-chapter internal-feelings-analyzing-fest to get them together.

#1 I love your fortune cookie message. That was utter genius.

#2 I had never seen Stereowire's artwork and wow is it amazing. I will be leaving comments as soon as I can get the time to write something worthy of the art.

#3 On the graphics thing, have you tried looking through all the vast GIMP plug ins and scripts you can put into the original GIMP program. I usually find almost every Photoshop effect that way. God yes, MW is gorgeous. If Mark Harmon is on top of the mountain of sexy then it's Michael Weatherly holding him up.

#4 I love kink memes. Hell, I love kink memes even for fandoms I barely read. Just had to say that.

#5 I am going to read your fic rec right now, b.c. I could use a good read!

Thank you again for your lovely comment on my page. It was so sweet and unexpected. It really brightened my day...er...night...oh, no, it is morning again...imagine that. damn insomnia.

1: Hehee, thank you. Unfortunately I think a lot of people would benefit from a message like that.

2: Yay! Yeah.. it's just so good!

3: Thanks for reminding me - I'll have to ask the laptop's owner about that program again.

I absolutely love your mountain analogy! So appropriate.

4: :D!

5: :D!

You are very welcome <3
I always say it's night when I'm sleeping and morning when I wake up no matter when I wake up... it's just easier that way :)
