spoilers for Hawaii 5-0 1x24
Peter Lenkov said: Remember: in 2nd to last Ep: Rachel told Danny her and Stan were done... It was over for awhile. Danny would NEVER unless that were true.
I dunno. I'm seeing a lot of timeline things that mean to me that things weren't "over" and whatever, but at least TPTB still believe that Danny's a good guy overall? Whatever. I'm just so. I don't even know. I've been thinking about this episode way too much, is what I *do* know.
Basically, I don't like this development. Slash aside. 'Cause I still haven't been able to figure out how this *isn't* cheating.
But slash perspective, that's more fun to talk about usually, so.
Okay, way back before the Danny/Rachel stuff even started, I'd had this idea. Looking at it from a slash perspective. I thought of writing something where Steve and Danny acknowledge their mutual interest but Danny basically says -
I came to Hawaii, just kind of uprooted my whole life, and it's been a few months maybe but that's not enough time for me to deal with this, and I just can't do a relationship right now.
Right? Because Danny's love isn't just going to stop, but more than that a divorce and a move would be really stressful and I think he would know that a thing with Steve would be serious and require more or different emotional investment then he could give at that time.
So anyway, after 1x23/24, my rationalizing-things-head-canon is, I think, that Steve and Danny were kind of dating a bit, and never did anything physical but when they stood too close or touched too long it would be okay, because they would know they were on the same page with liking each other, and Steve is patient, and then Danny gets the possibility of Rachel and he's going to jump on that possibility because of wanting to hold on to what he had, and he doesn't tell Steve and Steve doesn't feel like he really has a huge right to be upset, except he is. (And me, I think Steve has every right to be upset.)
But yes, things like the hike to see the petroglyphs, that was a date, and Danny's stayed over at Steve's, but in the guest room, but then they share breakfast and smiles, and maybe they could be really happy together but with their work keeping them busy and stressed, emotional stuff takes even longer to work out than it would otherwise - and it's not like it takes a short time, what with them both being kind of emotionally damaged to differing degrees. So they'll have to see what happens.
ANYWAY. Enough about that for now.
Apparently when Chin said to Danny (during the Meka episode, at the bar) that Steve has laser focus, he meant it literally.
Cause Wo Fat's like, "Yo Steve, I'm gonna be all up in your peripheral vision and BOOM TASER", and I can NOT figure out how Steve didn't NOTICE HE WAS THERE. Unless he really was letting his emotions get him a bit out of control, which is totally believeable. I haven't seen anybody else mention this though which surprised me.
I have opinions on everything else that people have mentioned but I don't want to go through them because the two things above are pretty much the only new things I have to say. Well, except the fact that the people who think Jenna knows too much about too many things might not realize what a CIA analyst does, although I'm not an expert on that myself.

When Steve entered the Governor's office, he left the door open behind him, and just stepped to the side. It made me itch the entire scene, because the *door was open*, RIGHT THERE, and anyone could come through it. I think Wo Fat just snuck down the hall and slid through the door, just behind where Steve could see, and tasered him.
Just a theory, though! :)
