A short tale in which there is a first time for John, questions from Rodney, and a largely unsatisfying¹ fade to black.

¹ because John is a person largely uncommunicative about his emotions, and would never actually come right out and explain why he's feeling the way he's feeling without a lot of poking and prodding and maybe not even then, so Rodney's going to take what he can get, with the talking, and at some point post-story will just move on to the fun poking and prodding instead.


"Seriously, Sheppard, are we going to be done before Hanukkah?"

"Rodney."

"There are at least three hundred and eighty-four things I could be doing that would be more worthwhile than standing here watching you be completely indecisive."

"Rodney."

"What?"

"It's not like this isn't going to directly benefit you, or anything."

"Um. Yes? And, I'm very grateful. But is there really that much difference between plastic and silicone?"

"Yeah, Rodney, kinda."

"Oh."

"... What now?"

"Um, strawberry versus cherry flavored lube?"

"You know what, maybe we should just-"

"Oh my gosh! You're - you're nervous, aren't you?"

"... I'm just not sure... about."

"Wha- us?"

"That is one thing you never have to worry about. And... I'll try to stop worrying about the lube, okay?"
