For: this prompt at comment_fic: The SCP Foundation, SCP-682, wanting to destroy just about everything you see isn't a fun existence.

Notes:

* The SCP Foundation is a horror website; if you are sensitive to horror themes I recommend you avoiding the site. Entirely. The SCP Foundation has the potential to pull people in and intrigue them even though they don't want to be.

* I wouldn't call the ficlet hugely horrific although it is very dark and potentially disturbing, especially in the context of the source material. Be aware it is written about the perspectives of a monster.

* Although the prompt will give you a good starting point, the ficlet will probably make the most sense if you know about 682.

* Some of the ficlet is based on the part of this article from a site called Villains Wiki that suggests that SCP-682 is not "of this world". I could find nothing connecting 343 and 682 on the site itself but I strongly suspect there is relevant material I didn't cover in my pre-writing review. (Basically I looked at 682's page and termination log (and the page on the Villains Wiki) and browsed through a few SCPs that were linked on those pages, and kept my research/refresher info to a minimum as the site is a low-dose kind of thing for me). I'm sure there's other places 682 is mentioned on the site although I did look at 343's page so I'm not sure if there'd be another place where 682 and 343 were together and I'm not sure about the accuracy of the Villains Wiki. But it really doesn't matter, I don't think, as guesses to 682's origin could very well include the phrase "not of this world" without any input from 343.) The other main piece of info I got that I didn't remember from before was the pronoun (see 079).

* Formatting is important - if you're on a mobile or other device that can't see background color you will not be able to see where text is highlighted/blacked-out. (And yes, text; it doesn't function the same as the redacted stuff on the site.)

It's getting to be that time of year again.

The holidays always make Evan a bit depressed.

He used to love them - making a big production of Halloween treats and decorations for visitors, hosting a costume party or two over the years... big Thanksgiving feasts and volunteering downtown, getting together with extended family and catching up on lives and the laughter and love of the past months... Christmas and all that entailed, getting completely wrapped up in the joy and the wonder of the snow and the songs and the lights....

It changed with Atlantis, of course, but there was still a camradarie and joy in the holidays that Evan doesn't have any more, and misses greatly.

He's standing in the grocery store trying to figure out if he should buy the big pack of candy for Halloween next weekend. He's been drinking OJ out of the carton and dishing food onto plastic these-aren't-even-plates, because John's going through a bad spell right now and it's enough trouble just to keep their heads above water.

Maybe he'll put a bowl out on the step. But the kids that make him happy with their gaudy costumes and their cheerful demands for treats?

He doubts he'll see their faces this year.

A limerick for the lj_scribe prompt "social media" - I love writing limericks!

Happy Birthday Teyla art as a pinch hit for teylafen 's thing a thon. I had thought about signing up for that but at the time felt overwhelmed with things and wasn't sure how long that would last. So when I had the chance to make something I was super-excited.

As previously mentioned, I wrote a thing for sd_ldws - here. I was eliminated and honestly I think it needs to be expanded, as 500 words wasn't nearly enough to explain things. (It actually started out as 950 words (and, because I hadn't been writing much, I was SO thrilled about that.)) If you look closely and are familiar with NCIS you'll see a little something there. (Gibbs just can't relax, even on vacation in Hawaii ;) )

The other things I've written recently have been a couple short things for a Steve Cuddle Fest over at gunslingaaahhh's. (Spoilers for finale and spoiler pic for season 2 at the link). My thingies are a Kamekona cuddle and a Steve/Danny lapnuzzle. Also there may have been some of my wonderful drawing skills on display. Right here. :D

Am currently working on a set of icons from the NCIS episode "Bounce" for ncis_verse, which will include a) hangover under-eye circles b) some Tony/Renny Grant goodness and c) a wonderful still of Tony looking like Gibbs is doing naughty things to him out of frame, oh my goodness Michael Weatherly's face, I am not even kidding.
